Max just lost her father. Rake’s just out of jail. Together they run off to a derelict farm in South Africa, grow pumpkin and breed chickens until one day, Rake disappears without a trace. Alone and pregnant in the desert, Max refuses to surrender their dream.

When Heiner Wolter (47) meets 22-year-old Iva he has no idea what might connect him to the young woman. But then he realises that Iva is Hana’s daughter and with Hana - now deceased - he used to be passionately in love. Between Heiner and Iva an obsessive and ominous relationship unfolds and Heiner’s life rapidly spirals out of control.
